Rally project left unfinished for health reasons.
Civic EP3 Gr A — a former factory-spec Civic JAS Super Production that competed in the Macau Grand Prix and the Touring class of the BTCC with the Wide Track / Team Kartworld team, driven by Jason Hughes.
Originally right-hand drive, it was converted to left-hand drive in accordance with factory standards (15CDV6 and 25CD4S steel, TIG-welded) in order to build a top-level Gr A rally car.
Built to the factory’s top-of-the-range Gr A specifications: suspension components, chassis, brakes, wiring looms, etc.
Chassis to S2000 specifications, with a 50-litre fuel tank, blade-type anti-roll bars, pedal assembly, silver wiring looms and large, homologated Brembo brakes at the front and rear
Gr A electric power steering with a potentiometer to adjust the level of assistance
The engine is a Super Production model tuned by Mountune. Bench test data available, approximately 235 ch.
It has not yet reached its service interval, but needs to be stripped down due to a coolant/oil mix issue, likely caused by an error when refitting the oil cooler.
I have the necessary parts (new Toda pistons and camshafts) to prepare an engine to ‘Maxi Gr A’ specifications.
Pectel T6-2000 ECU, unlocked with a new internal battery, checked and replaced by a contact at Mountune.
The gearbox is a homologated Zanghellini unit, which has been serviced and has not been driven since. Invoice available.
It includes:
- a spare short-ratio rear axle
- a medium-ratio rear axle fitted
- two single-plate clutch discs
AP twin-plate clutch, as good as new, fitted to the car, S2000 specifications.
Chassis built to factory standards, weighing 1,000 kg with steel windows and body panels (heated plastic windscreen).
Can be configured as a ‘Classic Gr A’ version. The WTCC S2000 wide-body kit is available as an option.
Fitted with a new 50-litre flexible fuel tank (though past its expiry date), new Staubli connectors, a new hand pump and new refuelling cans. The Staubli couplings and high-pressure fuel lines are also new.
Fitted for rallying or hillclimbing with Proflex ‘Reppeto’ suspension – the only set that has enabled an EP3 to perform well in rallying. It has competed in a season of hillclimbs since its last service.
The brakes are Brembo units compliant with Gr A regulations, with new front discs and CL brake pads. Everything complies with the Gr A homologation documents, including the hydraulic handbrake.
New Li-ion battery (6 years old) + charger.
Functioning automatic fire-extinguishing system.
New bucket seats and harnesses, but past their expiry date.
Parts:
- Moulds for carbon fibre parts to convert the car from right-hand drive to left-hand drive
- Blueprints for critical components: power steering parts, pillars, suspension mounts, suspension wishbones
- 1 pair of incomplete front suspension wishbones, welding work carried out
- Relays, fuse box, silver-coloured wiring and all the necessary equipment to complete the electrical additions required for rally use: headlights, fans, spotlights, horn, etc.
