A very special Porsche 935 with genuine Australian competition history, built to Kremer K3 specification by legendary Australian race engineer John Sheppard.

This 935 began life in Australia in the late 1980s, commissioned by John Pollard for the newly established Thundersports Series. The car was constructed by John Sheppard, the highly respected race engineer and team manager best known for his work with the legendary Holden Dealer Team.

Built to Kremer K3 specification, this was intended as a serious competition car rather than a static replica. Its period racing career is documented in Australian motorsport records, including an impressive 4th-place finish at Sandown on 11 September 1988 with John Pollard at the wheel. The car is also recorded competing in the 1988 Australian Sports Car Championship as a Porsche 935 Turbo.

Following its Australian racing career, the car was imported to the UK, where it subsequently spent a prolonged period in storage. When eventually acquired by renowned Porsche collector, restorer and driver Chris Goodwin, it required a comprehensive restoration to return it to running and race-ready condition.

Chris Goodwin, together with highly experienced Porsche engineer Dave Lee, undertook an extensive back-to-bare-shell rebuild. The car was stripped, inspected and rebuilt from the ground up, with hundreds of improvements incorporated during the process. Considerable attention was given to the mechanical systems, cooling, chassis and overall reliability, while retaining the character and philosophy of the original 935.

The result is an exceptionally well-developed Porsche 935 combining genuine period Australian competition provenance with a meticulous modern restoration.

Power comes from a 3. 2-litre twin-turbocharged, air-cooled flat-six with flat-fan cooling, producing an extraordinary 760 bhp at 1. 4 bar of boost.

With a weight of approximately 860 kg, the performance is formidable. The combination of huge turbocharged power, very low weight and the unmistakable soundtrack of an air-cooled Porsche flat-six makes this an intensely exciting machine.

The car has subsequently been demonstrated running at Megaphonics 26, giving the opportunity to hear and experience this extraordinary machine as intended.

The provenance is what makes this 935 particularly compelling. Built in Australia by John Sheppard, commissioned by John Pollard, raced in period and subsequently brought to the UK, it has then benefited from an extensive bare-shell restoration by Chris Goodwin and Dave Lee.
