Osella FA-1-D

Introducing the Osella FA1D, a remarkable piece of motorsport history built for the 1983 Formula 1 season. This exceptional car is powered by a Ford Cosworth engine and served as an interim model before the mid-season launch of the Alfa Romeo-engined FA1E.

Racing History

The FA1D was actively utilized by the Osella team during the first eight races of the 1983 F1 World Championship, showcasing its performance under the skilled hands of drivers Piercarlo Ghinzani and Corrado Fabi.

Unique Design and Rarity

As the third of three cars constructed by Osella to accommodate the DFV engine chassis, this vehicle was designated as the spare car at the beginning of the season. The design of the FA1D is widely regarded as one of the most aesthetically pleasing in Formula 1 history. Notably, it is currently the only known example of its kind still in existence, either in collections or actively racing today.

Recent Refurbishment

This iconic Osella has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment by Mirage Engineering, ensuring it meets modern standards while preserving its historical significance. The DFV engine has been meticulously overhauled by Richardson, and the Hewland gearbox has been rigorously crack tested to guarantee reliability and performance. New HTP Papers have been issued for the vehicle and a number of spare parts are included.
