Ownership & History:
Delivered to Motorwagen in Kassel, Germany on December 11, 1937
Previously owned by Lieutenant General James M. Gavin of the 82nd Airborne Division
The previous owner (now 85) remembered the car clearly – it shared garage space with a Ferrari 330, 250 GT SWB, and 275 GTB/4
He confirmed the car was original except for repaint and reupholstered seats
He purchased the car directly from Germany along with a BMW 507
Prior Ownership Work (Previous Owner):
Original engine (85159) completely rebuilt by Wayne Obry of Motion Products
Repaint from original white to current deep red
Interior reupholstered
Body was not removed from the car – making this an incredibly unmolested original example
Current Ownership (Purchased early 1990s):
Owner had the original rebuilt engine removed and placed on a stand for preservation
Owned for over 20 years; bought through Wayne Obry / Motion Products
The previous owner brought the car from Germany in 1975 and owned it until current owner’s purchase
Competed in a few SCCA and SVRA races in the US before being retired for leisurely driving (owner has a stable of race cars for competition)
Maintained by KTR Racing, Ayer, MA
Current Engine & Condition:
A correct, newly rebuilt engine was installed with the intent to race
Owner quickly realized he was not a risk taker – the 328 was removed from racing duty with just over 3,000 miles on the replacement engine
Car presents beautifully – paint, interior, and engine in pristine condition
Located in Boston, MA
Car will be gone through thoroughly before going to new owner (fresh oil, plugs, etc.)
Car As IS: $460.000.00 spare original engine: $65,000.00
