SAAB
Founded in 1945 in Sweden, SAAB first made a name for itself in aeronautics before moving into cars. The brand has left its mark on motor sport, particularly in rallying, where it shone from the 1960s onwards with the legendary SAAB 96, driven by Erik Carlsson, nicknamed "Carlsson on the roof" for his prowess and unique driving style. SAAB also competed in touring car championships. A little-known anecdote is that SAAB was one of the first to use turbocharging in its competition cars, revolutionising the approach to performance in rallying and paving the way for this technology in motorsport.
