Fiat 131 Abarth Rally was the rally queen of the late 1970s, after Lancia Stratos and before the legendary Lancia Delta-Audi quattro-Peugeot T16 triumvirate. Born at a time when Gianni Agnelli could afford to tell Cesare Fiorio that Fiat had to win a world championship, a concept that in 2020 is impossible even to imagine. But there it is: in Turin they were looking for an heir to the 124 Abarth. Initially, the plan was to build a new model based on the X1/9 - practically a Stratos in Fiat guise - but the car was never born, before Fiat decided to make the 131, a family saloon, the star of the show and thus increase its market appeal.
