Toyota 800 Sports LHD

A rare Toyota 800 Sports in left-hand drive version is for sale. Only around 300 of this model were produced, making it a real collector's item. This example has been fully restored and converted to a 1000cc KP30 engine.
The story of this Toyota 800 Sport begins in the late 70s to early 80s when it was brought to Ramstein Air Base by US soldiers, presumably from Okinawa. In the late 80s, a German employee discovered the vehicle in a warehouse where it was in very poor condition and missing most of its parts. The Toyota changed hands several times until 2002, but nobody dared to tackle the complex restoration and procurement of spare parts.

In 2002, an acquaintance of mine, a former master mechanic at Toyota, took on the project. He restored the bodywork to the highest standard and over the years collected many of the necessary parts from all over the world. As most of the mechanical components were also missing, he acquired a 1974 Toyota 1000 and took over its technology. Every single part was carefully overhauled and brought up to a high standard.

About three years ago, I took over the almost completed 800 Sports. There were still a few parts missing, mainly seals and panelling. I was finally able to find these missing parts in Japan and the USA. The vehicle is now fully restored and ready for the road.
