Shortly before ceasing to manufacture motorbikes, AME (Amazones Motos Especiais LTDa) began producing cars.
Presented as a prototype in March 1987, the car came with Volkswagen powertrains and delivery plans for 16 units a month.
The Spyder had already been presented at the 1st Motor Show the previous year on the stand of Inter America Tecnologia Automobilística Internacional, a São Paulo-based company of North American origin which, having recently been founded, announced the construction of ten units of the new car in association with AME.
Manufactured under licence from American designer Chuck Beck, the replica could be supplied complete, with zero km mechanics (1600 cc gearbox engine assembly, choice of 1800 or 2160 cc), or as a kit, still with the central engine mounted in front of the rear axle, in an inverted position, immediately behind the cockpit.
Few examples were produced by AME, because in 1987 Beck renegotiated the rights to manufacture the car, transferring them to Chamonix, with whom he formed a partnership.
