Launched in 1962, the MG MGB epitomises the spirit of the British roadster: light, elegant, easy to maintain and particularly enjoyable to drive. Equipped with a 1,798 cm³ 4-cylinder engine, it offered reasonable but sufficient power for sporty rides, all with timeless lines. Produced until 1980, the MGB became a benchmark.

But the MGB also has a long history of competition. As early as the 1960s, it was entered in major endurance events, starting with the 12 Hours of Sebring, where it distinguished itself on several occasions. In 1963, it finished 12th overall in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and second in its class. The following year, it shone at the Monte Carlo Rally, taking first place in its class. Despite modest performances against more powerful rivals, the MGB earned a reputation as a reliable, tough and tenacious racer.

Even today, it continues to work wonders in historic competitions such as the Tour Auto and Le Mans Classic, where certain prepared versions rival much more powerful Porsches. A true long-distance racer, discreet but formidably efficient.

The car we are offering for sale took part in the Tour Auto in 2013 and 2015, as well as other regional rallies (Soleil Cannes, Bourgogne Classic...). It proved itself to be a reliable and high-performing rally car. Following the 2015 Tour Auto, it was acquired by its current owner.

Today, it represents an attractive base for anyone wishing to compete in historic or regularity events.
