Cayman Cup 987 Sportec
Race cars • GT • PORSCHE • For sale • France • Aix-les-bains
A genuine Cayman Cup built by IMSA Performance in Rouen for the French championship in 2008, it bears the number 15.
With only 40 cars built, there can't be many left, especially in this exceptional condition. It carries its FFSA passport of the time (n°050237).
Based on a Cayman S, the preparation included:
- Installation of safety equipment: 6-point roll bar, Recaro bucket seats, 6-point safety harness, circuit breaker, fire extinguisher, window film;
- Adaptation of the running gear: stabiliser bars, brake cooling boas, aviation brake hoses, Bilstein PSS9 suspension;
- Lightening of the car: removal of carpeting and soundproofing, carbon door panels, removal of the audio system and air conditioning, etc.
- Modification of the crankcase and engine lubrication system with pressure accumulator for greater reliability, with the engine remaining original.
It features 200-cell sport catalytic converters and a Tubistyle silencer that produces a magnificent sound! It's also fitted with a self-locking system.
Conversion of the original 3.4-litre engine to a 3.8-litre by Swiss tuner Sportec (CHF 36,000). Detailed invoice available (in German). This conversion was carried out when the car had 24,263 km, when I bought it at the beginning of 2019. The refurbished 3.8-litre engine has less than 15,000 km and is in great shape. It has been run in on a dyno by Sportec, and I have the data sheet:
- Power: 395 bhp at 7300 rpm (original: 296 bhp at 6690 rpm)
- Torque: 433 Nm at 5470 rpm (original: 354 Nm at 4220 rpm)
Since I've owned it, the following modifications have been made:
- ARS (Alp Racing Suspension) 1-track M-Road threaded custom dampers
- Lightened Sachs single mass flywheel
- Sachs reinforced clutch
- Partitioned FVD crankcase (accusump still in place)
- Short-throw gear lever
- LED rear lights (origins available)
- Radiator guards
- Alcantara steering wheel with widened rim and indicator (airbag retained).
Used for touring and doing 3-4 regularity rallies a year (VMRS: Véhicule Moderne de Régularité Sportive) in the LPRS (Prestige) category.
Serviced every year by 2B Autosport (73 La Ravoire), with an average of 2000 km / year covered. No savings are made on maintenance. It has just had a major overhaul: engine oil change (Castrol 10/60), brake fluid (Castrol SRF), 6 coils, 6 spark plugs, K&N air filter, geometry...
The car is in perfect mechanical and body condition, so there's nothing to worry about.
It has its registration papers and is registered. The CT will be passed again for the sale.
Exchange possible against modern Alpine A110, M2 CS, Yaris GR Track or equivalent (less than 30,000 km), with a supplement from you or me according to proposal.
