Lotus 7 Series 2

Classic Car Design is pleased to present the Lotus Seven Series 2 “678 LBJ”! It dates from 1962. It arrived in France several decades ago and has been maintained and preserved with as many original parts as possible; a Seven in a state of rare authenticity. The car comes with a file of invoices dating back nearly 30 years. The original ‘registration book’ is present and lists all the British owners, including the first owner, who was an RAF pilot… Its most recent French owner has owned it for over 20 years.
Externally, this car features elements that have in some cases been restored, refurbished or left in their original condition, which gives it immense charm. The paintwork, which has been polished, nevertheless shows signs of ageing, notably some cracking on the wings, though this does not detract from the car’s fine appearance. All the accessories are in very good condition. The car is fitted with a soft top, side windows and a tonneau cover.
Inside, the upholstery is in very good condition. You take your seat on a bench seat! The dashboard is entirely original and has a superb patina, and all the instruments are in working order. When you lift the carpets and seat cushions, you can see that the aluminium panels are original.
Mechanically, it’s the small 997cc (105E) engine under the bonnet, inherited from the Ford Anglia, bearing in mind that this little car weighs just 430kg! It’s worth noting that the chassis has never been altered; it is entirely original. The car has recently undergone a service and is in perfect working order in every respect.
