Talbot Lotus Sunbeam Rally Car

The original car shell was registered in 1982 and was extensively modified in 2010 into a replica of a works rally Lotus Sunbeam. The build was a no expense spared transformation with the shell being fully seam welded with extensive strengthening and re-engineering carried out with the car subsequently being campaigned very successfully in British and European Historic rallies.

The dry sump Lotus twin cam engine was built by Phil Davison who built the works engines which produces 230bhp. The car was built with only the best parts and comes with its Motorsport Uk Historic Rally Vehicle Identity Form, Competition Log Book and V5. Over the last 5 years the car has only done the odd sprint and rally show and has just undergone a full refresh with a full rebuild of the engine by JRE race engines using one of the last original steel head gaskets provided by Phil Davidson.

Specification:-

Shell – stripped sand blasted, extensively strengthened and seam welded including the larger transmission tunnel and rear compartment to fit the fuel and dry sump tanks.

Elecrics & hydraulics - Lightweight competition wiring loom, fully areo quiped brake, fuel & oil lines.

Engine – Lotus competition engine built by Phil Davison the original builder of the works engines. It has just been completely refreshed by JRE race engines and has done 20 road miles since. All steel dry sumped engine with big valve head and twin Delorto 48 carbs producing 230bhp.

Gearbox – A dog leg ZF 5 speed 18 spline motorsport box built by John Roberts

Clutch – twin plate competition clutch

Axle – fully floating atlas axle built by Squires Brother

Group 4 hubs and wheels

Tarmac and forest bilstein dampers and springs

Group 4 AP 4 pot brakes front and 2 pot backs with vented discs and bells

Quick release momo steering wheel

Works spec x member with modified steering rack and rose jointed antiroll bar

Lightweight competition wiring loom

Fully areo quip fuel brake and oil lines hydraulic hand brake alloy radiator and electric fan

Rally trip meter

Light weight rear polycarbonate tailgate and rear quarter windows

Electric plumbed in and hand held fire extinguishers

Spot light pod including 6 lights

Alloy sump and gearbox guard

Wheel’s 4 x 8J-13, 6 x 7J-13, 6 x 6Jx13 all with tyres

Car is ready to rally except for requiring in date seats, belts and extinguisher’s as those fitted have had little use but are out of date for MSA events.

The car has been stored in its own cocoon pod.

Lots of the original build invoices and papers come with the car.
