Founded in 1862 by Adam Opel in Germany, Opel was initially known for its sewing machines before moving into cars in 1899. The brand built up a solid reputation in motor sport, particularly rallying, with emblematic victories in the 70s and 80s thanks to models such as the Opel Ascona and the Manta. Opel has also made its presence felt in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) and Formula 3, proving its technical expertise and passion for racing. An interesting anecdote is that Opel developed the "Rocket Car" in 1928, one of the first rocket-powered car experiments, demonstrating its pioneering spirit in automotive innovation.
