FERRARI F430 SPIDER F1

With the F430 comes a new generation of 8-cylinder Ferraris, developed through the valuable experience of the Gestione Sportiva Ferrari. The result is an innovative project with extreme frontier technologies reinterpreted for sporty road use.

The most important are the electronically controlled differential, designed by Ferrari for Formula 1 single-seaters, and the 'manettino', the control on the steering wheel that allows the driver to act quickly on the systems that govern the vehicle.

Completely new is the engine, compact and light, with a displacement of 4308 cm3 and performance of the highest level.

The aerodynamics exploit innovative concepts such as the specialisation of flows to increase downforce values and improve the cooling of the mechanicals.

The line of the F430, designed by Pininfarina, stems from the exceptional technical content of the car. All the stylistic elements emphasise the aggressiveness and performance of this model.The front of the car, characterised by two elliptical air intakes that feed the large radiators called upon to dispose of the high power of the engine, is very much in evidence

The F430 mounts a 90° V8 engine, designed according to Ferrari's typical flat-shaft architecture (180° between cranks). The application of Ferrari's Formula 1 experience has resulted in an improvement of the engine, compared to its predecessor, in terms of performance, weight and reduction in overall dimensions. Despite the 20% increase in displacement (from 3586 bhp to 4308 bhp), the weight of the engine has increased by only 4 kg, while performance has increased significantly. Torque has increased by 25 per cent (465 Nm at 5,,250 rpm, of which 80 per cent is already available at 3,500 rpm) and power by 23 per cent (490 hp at 8,500 rpm). The engine is extremely compact, with a cylinder gap of just 104 mm. Similarly, Ferrari's engineers chose to integrate the sump and main connections into a single casting, which together with a smaller twin-plate clutch and flywheel, reduced the engine height between the bottom of the oil sump and the crankshaft to just 130 mm (compared to 145 mm for the engine unit on the 360 Modena).
