This 1977-built Ralt RT1-68 was originally owned by Ron Dennis' Project 4 Racing and was actively raced that year by three Formula 1 drivers: Hans-Joachim Stuck (Jim Clark Hockenheim), Clay Regazzoni (Eifelrennen Nürburgring) and Eddie Cheever. Cheever used the RT1-68 after destroying his RT1-64 at Mugello; he then took the car to Rouen, where he won the Formula 2 race, before entering it at Nogaro.

At the end of 1977, the car was recovered by Heini Mader to cover unpaid engine bills incurred by Ron Dennis. It was then raced one last time in the Formula 2 Championship in 1978 by Swiss driver Romeo Camathias. Since then, the car has been used in various hill climbs and local events. In 1980, it was sold to Kurt Buess, and then in 1985 to Jo Binder, who kept it for thirty-three years, before it was bought by the previous owner, Michiel Smits, who entered it in the HSCC Historic Formula Two series.
