Discover a unique, fascinating and high-performance car: the DRW Imp.
This charming 1964 sports racer became British hill-climb champion in 1969 after competing in numerous circuit events, including the famous Guards Trophy and Goodwood. It is the work of two former Lotus engineers, who applied the principles dear to Chapman - lightness and efficiency - to this little rocket.
The result was an ingenious multi-tubular chassis, suspended by Lotus 23 double wishbones, fitted with the legendary Wobbly magnesium wheels, and powered by the extraordinary Imp engine - renowned for its lightness, its technological advance for its time and its incomparable specific efficiency.
In this case, the engine was prepared by the wizard Shrigley Engineering: a full-race 1150cc block developing 129 bhp (see power curve). Coupled with an optimised Jack Knight 4-speed dog gearbox and self-locking differential, this little terror weighs just 380kg and can hold its own against much more powerful cars.
At the 2019 Guards Trophy at Silverstone, for example, it finished 3ᵉ in its class (up to 1600cc), ahead of several Lotus 23Bs and just 2 seconds on the lap of the overall winner. With the renewed "up to 1150 cm³" category, this car is a potential winner.
This sport racer is in perfect condition and "ready to race". It comes with an FIA HTP valid until 31 December 2026. The DRW has been invited twice to the Goodwood Revival and once to the Members' Meeting. Extremely competitive and very rare, it naturally attracts the organisers of major events.
Supplied with full documentation of period results, a complete set of body moulds and several parts (suspension jigs, etc.), this is a unique opportunity to race among the legends at an affordable price - with a unique and distinctive character.
This real coup de cœur can be viewed by appointment, 1h15 from Brussels, Belgium.
