Porsche 964 Safari with 3.8l engine and RUF gearbox

The Porsche 911 is usually associated with winding country roads, air-cooled engine sound and sporty driving dynamics on tarmac. However, there is a much rarer and more uncompromising interpretation of the classic 911: the so-called "Safari Porsche". Inspired by the brand's legendary rally and off-road missions - from the East African Safari Rally of the 1970s to the Paris-Dakar vehicles of the 1980s - a Safari 911 combines classic Porsche DNA with genuine adventure capability. A higher chassis, off-road tyres, reinforced underbody and functional motorsport details transform the 911 into a vehicle that goes far beyond ordinary road vehicles.
The Porsche 964 Safari offered here is an exceptionally high-quality one-off that has been consistently developed and built in Norway since 2019. The basis is a Porsche 964 Carrera 4 from the 1989 model year, which has been optically converted to the rare 911 SCRS rally look. All bodywork, including the extensions, was professionally executed in steel using original Porsche parts - no simple GRP add-on parts, but a very high-quality and sustainable construction for the demands of a safari. The Porsche 964 Safari was intensively tested in the Norwegian mountains as well as in the Alps and continuously developed further. The result was not just a show car, but a fully functional and well thought-out Safari 911 with genuine long-distance and adventure expertise.
Technically, the car was consistently designed for drivability and robustness. The revised 3.8-litre engine was specially tuned for high torque and good drivability and harmonises perfectly with the rare, specially built RUF 6-speed gearbox with lockable differentials. The chassis specially developed for this Porsche 964 Safari with adapted wheel suspension ensures high stability and surprisingly precise handling - both on poor roads and off-road. The vehicle has been continuously optimised over the years: The underride guard, suspension set-up, roof rack system and lighting system have been further developed several times and adapted to real-life applications.
The numerous special equipment features include 16-inch Fuchs-style rims with all-terrain tyres, electric front winch (invisible behind the number plate), original Porsche trailer coupling system, PCCM+ navigation system incl. Apple CarPlay, Webasto petrol parking heater, Custom-made roof rack with spare wheel, Recaro leather seats, Stilo intercom system, Half cage, Cargraphic sports exhaust system with flap control, RS door panels, Custom-made additional headlight pod on the bonnet, etc.
It should be emphasised that all conversions have been approved and registered in the Norwegian vehicle documents. In addition, the vehicle has become known through various international magazines and media reports and the Safari conversion has been featured in "911 & Porsche World" and "Classic Porsche", among others.
This Porsche 964 Safari is no ordinary conversion, but an exceptionally well thought-out and professionally developed adventure vehicle with real personality, high everyday usability and an enormous attention factor - ready for long journeys, alpine pass roads and roads that normal sports cars would never reach.
