DESCRIPTION:
This beautiful example has been fully restored 20 years ago, when in the tenure of the current owner. The car has been kept up to his meticulous standards and bot, it shows! Incredible body lines, paintwork, brightwork and mechanicals mean that you have an on the button BT7 that has had any post restoration niggles long since ironed out. With the rebuilt engine purring through the throaty stainless-steel exhaust, it really is everything you could want from a 60’s British sports car.
The leather shows signs of light usage since the restoration, but having been kept in a dehumidified and heated garage, along with the rest of the collection the rest of the car is in just incredible order. You would be hard pushed to have guessed that the restoration was any longer than a few years ago. The car is as clean underneath as it is on top, the chassis and suspension all in amazing order too. It was an original U.K delivered RHD car, which retains its original engine, central shift gearbox and axle, it is also still in its original colour of Colorado red. A rare, fully matching, triple carb car; of which only 261 were built!
Start the car and it barks into life, settling into a beautifully steady idle. Select first with the sporty and slick central shifter, pick up the revs and move off with a smooth and torquey push from the rear end. The car gathers pace with ease, all the while the exhaust note gets more and more enticing, turning heads wherever you go. The brakes, by this stage of development are much improved too, as is the stable and consistent handling and ride from the suspension. A spacious and comfortable cruiser, designed to attack the B-Road of rural England, but long legged enough to cruise comfortably further afield into Great Britain and handling long continental tours with ease. It really is a do-it-all classic.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
A matching numbers Tri carb, central shift BT7, with only three previous owners from new, as confirmed by the Buff logbook, fully restored by professionals under the stewardship of its present owner of 22 years, it is quite some car. The care and detail given during the restoration and ownership since just shines through. This is the type of car that really is hard to repeat. We love cars like this, it drives perfectly, wants for absolutely nothing and has the previous owner’s passion running through its fuel lines.
With no stone left unturned and being a car that we have known and looked after for the owner, it is simply a car to drive and enjoy. The big six fires into a smooth raspy idle at the first hint of the key, the car rides and handles beautifully, probably as close to a new car as you’re likely to get this side of a fresh restoration, without the running in niggles! Pure enjoyment beckons! Thanks to the recent softening of prices on these and many other 50’s and 60’s icons, you can now enjoy a fully restored car, for less than the cost of the bodywork alone in today’s money!
Being a Tri-carb car, with the sought after central shift, this is a true drivers dream, it has more power, faster shifts and with overdrive available on third and top, it really does eat up the road in a way that was almost unheard of back in the early 60’s. All whilst looking incredibly classy and delivering a sonorous note from that tuned BMC C series engine. A true British classic in every sense.
