FIAT 127 Sport Corsa

Fiat's new small car and successor to the 850 was the 127 from spring 1971. The compact front-wheel drive car was closely related to the Autobianchi A112. As with the other member of the group, there was an Abarth version of the 127 from 1978, called the 127 Sport. Initially, the 1050 cc four-cylinder engine designed by Aurelio Lampredi was used. The displacement of the 4-cylinder engine was later increased to 1, 300 cc.

This second series Fiat 127 can look back on an eventful past. Delivered new in 1979 in the canton of Solothurn as an original 127 Sport Abarth, it was soon converted into a racing car. From the early 1980s, the Fiat was regularly entered in countless hill climbs, slaloms and circuit races. The technical car pass contains entries dating back to the 00s. The car has undergone extensive modifications. Today it has coil-over suspension, perforated brake discs, an aluminium racing tank, welded strut braces and much more. The centrepiece is the 1, 300 cc engine from the 127 Sport of the third series. It is fuelled by two Weber 40 DCNF downdraft carburettors. Various work was carried out in our workshop in February 2023. The timing belt, water pump, racing clutch, battery, spark plugs and cables, Pirelli P7 Corsa racing tyres, fuel and brake lines and more were replaced. The engine was removed, then partially dismantled, checked and correctly adjusted. The car passed the test run at an airfield slalom with flying colours. With an unladen weight of only approx. 600kg and its manoeuvrability, the 127 can demonstrate its qualities in slaloms and hill climbs in particular. It is a professional conversion ready to race.
