We are pleased to offer you this fantastic Lancia Fulvia Zagato 1.3 S series 2, first registered on 19/12/1972. Its 1,298 cc V4 engine produces 66 kw (90 bhp), coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and has a total mileage of 97,141 km.
The vehicle originated in Belgium and was imported into France in 2015.
The Sport bodywork was the brainchild of Elio Zagato, who had already designed some very interesting sports cars. It was based on the Fulvia Coupé, but E. Zagato designed a modern, more aerodynamic body with highly advanced styling solutions.
The car was assembled near the Zagato factory in Milan.
The Fulvia Sport was 45 kg lighter than the Coupé, thanks to the use of aluminium in the bodywork, making it more delicate. It was this 'detail' that penalised its sporting career, as it was more expensive to run than a Fulvia Coupé. Nevertheless, Zagato built a series of 27 Fulvia Sport Competizione, mainly for the Italian championship (although it did win the 1600 Proto class, 11th overall, at the 1969 24 Hours of Daytona with Pinto and Maglioli at the wheel).
The 1200s, as well as the first 1300s, were fitted with all-aluminium bodywork, while subsequent 1300s and 1300s 1st series versions had to make do with opening doors for reasons of strength and cost reduction.
With the arrival of the second series, the Zagato lost the aluminium, even on the moving parts, in favour of steel, which was cheaper and easier to produce. There were, however, a few transitional Zagatos (600 examples known as Series 1 and ½) that retained the aluminium doors with the look of a 1.3s Series 1 (including the side opening of the bonnet), equipped with the powertrain of a second series.
