History:
This car with chassis 90CA-003 was entered in the 1990 Indianapolis 500 by Team Patrick - Sponsor Miller as a backup car for drivers Al Unser Sr. (chassis CA-001) and Roberto Guerrero (chassis CA-002). On 14 May 1990, during the first qualifying practice session, Guerrero seriously damaged chassis 002 and had to use the spare car, with its white/gold livery and number 20T.
With this livery, on 19 May 1990, Guerrero qualified chassis 003 with the 28th fastest time at an average speed of over 342 km/h.
For the 500 Miglia on 27 May 1990, the 003 livery was changed from white/gold to black/gold (the same as the 002 that crashed) with the application of black adhesive films. In the race, after setting the 20th fastest lap, the 003 was forced to retire on lap 118 due to a suspension problem.
The 003 ended its racing life on 15 July 1990 at the Meadowlands, where it finished 15th after starting 19th, still driven by Roberto Guerrero.
During its general restoration in 2010, the black film was removed and the 003 was returned to its original white/gold livery.
Given its history and the standard of its restoration, this car is a must for collectors and a sound investment.
