FERRARI 512 BB

The Ferrari BB (Berlinetta Boxer) was born in the wake of Formula 1 success, to replace the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. The BB family fully embraced the atmosphere of the 70s, because they were children of their time: new from a technical and design point of view, brutal and sporty. Despite its name, the engine was not a true boxer, but rather a V-shaped engine with 180° inclinations, since the connecting rods were mounted in pairs on the same support, a solution that allowed the car's centre of gravity to be lowered. This constructive solution is typical of V-shaped engines, whereas boxer engines use a support for each connecting rod, as in in-line engines.

The second generation of BBs was born in 1976 when they had to replace the 365 GT/4 BB because of anti-pollution regulations: they thus introduced the 512 BB (Carburettors) which, as well as having lower emissions, boasted a better ride. fluidity than its predecessor. The 512 BB remained in production until 1981, when only 929 examples were produced. This 512 BB carburettor is one of the last to be produced and is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition.
