For sale: Ford Escort Cosworth 1993 “Big Turbo” model – a unique project built with a clear vision and without compromise.
This is not one of those typical “template” builds – the car was assembled entirely individually, with carefully selected components and a clear goal: to be different, special, and durable. Although it uses top-tier aftermarket parts, the combination and approach make it unique – a car like this does not exist anywhere else.
Project
The project has been built from 2017 until today and is realistically already long completed, but in practice I never stop working on it – because I always see a detail I can further refine, and that is where my obsession with this project both ends and begins.
Bodywork & finish
The car is painted in Sikkens 2683 Mallard Green, with three layers of clear coat to achieve a deep, wet-look shine.
Under the body, a complete stripping and welding of the chassis floor was done, after which the entire underside was protected with four layers of Cobra Bedliner coating.
All seams have been additionally professionally treated, sealed, and protected, with no compromises in execution – to the point where it is hard to tell whether the car looks better on the outside or underneath.
The car is literally in better-than-new condition, and the underbody is additionally protected with a transparent protective wax for long-term resistance and preservation of details.
Engine
The engine is built with a focus on extreme durability, inspired by proven solutions from Giannis Tsakanikas builds, but deliberately limited to ~700 HP to ensure long-term reliability and safe use.
The entire concept was developed in collaboration with Alex Drakos (ZRP) and Marty Camilleri (ZOQDI Racing), who have direct experience with high-end drag builds.
It is a combination of the Greek and Maltese drag scenes – perfectionists whose cars enter the 7-second zone – resulting in an engine concept that is practically unbreakable.
Although currently limited, the entire setup is designed for over 1000 HP, with every single component selected and installed with that goal in mind.
• Brand new engine (0 km after run-in period)
• Ready for over 2.5 bar of boost and more than 8500 rpm – already proven on the dyno
Drivetrain & suspension
• New 6-speed sequential gearbox (ratio 4.44), built by Claudio Colussi in Italy
• Transfer chain removed and replaced with a transfer gear – a well-known motorsport conversion by Claudio Colussi
• Viscous coupling optimized and set to 80 Nm for improved torque transfer and more consistent drive
• Quaife front and rear LSD differentials – new
• Quaife front differential housing – new
• 6-degree rear beam for improved stability and traction
• Entire drivetrain matched to 4.44 ratio (front/rear/final drive)
All components were purchased new – without exception.
Brakes
• Tarox braking system
• Front 8-piston calipers, 330 mm discs
• Rear Big Brake conversion kit, 318 mm oversized discs (performance setup)
Turbo
• Garrett GT30-770 turbocharger with speed sensor
• Intentionally chosen – not the largest option, but a balance between power and reliability
• The focus was not “maximum at any cost”, but controlled and long-term power
Condition
• All parts purchased new
• Only new components installed – no compromises
• Every part with TÜV certification was selected as such (brakes, dampers, exhaust system, etc.)
• Engine is practically new
• The car has not been driven after project completion
• The entire project is thoroughly documented with over 6,500 photos and videos, so every step and modification is properly recorded
Value
• Over €85,000 in parts, labor, and build cost (excluding the base vehicle)
• Market value of a good Ford Escort Cosworth today is at least €55,000–€60,000, with most examples in that range often requiring additional investment and work
• Asking price: €81,000 – fixed
Reason for sale
This was my almost 10-year dream project. Unfortunately, over the last year the car hasn’t been driven and I’ve simply grown tired of the project. I didn’t even get to properly experience it the way it deserves. It’s time for it to find a new owner who will appreciate its uniqueness and potential.
Car is in Croatia, Split.
